February 9th is Alice Walker Day!!!Alice Walker is best known for her Pulitzer Prize winning novel "The Color Purple", but not only is she a great writer she is also an amazing political and social activist. She is a strong black woman that knows first-hand about the oppression of Jim Crow and slavery like conditions in the U.S., especially in the South where she is from. She overcame the odds against her and to this day is involved in organizations and speaking about bringing peace and justice to the world.
