February 17th is Huey P. Newton Day!!!Huey P. Newton was one of the co-founders founders of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense and worked to bring social justice to all oppressed people and give them the knowledge and means to protect themselves against the oppressors. Most people didn't understand the tactics and passion of Huey, and most still don't to this day, but no matter how radical or inflammatory people thought the ideals and visions were, Huey and others pressed on to bring knowledge and awareness! Could it have been done in a better way?, maybe, but that was the way Huey and others felt it needed to be at that time in the history of this country and the world and I honestly can't say that I wouldn't have wanted to be the same way! The injustices still have not been corrected and everyday we see atrocity after atrocity to humanity, all because a few people think they need to be superior and control the majority of people! I wish there were some strong voices like his still around to this day and a way to get more and more people to unite to fight to make the world a better place for all humanity!!!
