April 5th is Booker T. Washington Day!!!
If you don't know who Booker T. Washington is then you definitely need to do some research and learn! He was an educator and one of the foremost African-American leaders of all-time. He founded the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute, now known as Tuskegee University. He did a lot to bring light to the prejudices and atrocities against African-Americans and he was super passionate about everyone having access to higher learner and education. Definitely get "Up from Slavery" his autobiography that details his rise from a slave boy to founding his own University. Thank you Mr. Washington for all of your contributions and inspiration!
