April 1st is Gil Scott-Heron Day!!! 

Well, basically the first thing I have to say about Gil Scott-Heron is THANK YOU!!!!  Without him there would have been no  REAL Hiphop!!!  REAL Hiphop being my favorite music I have a lot of appreciation for this man's work.  He was a huge influence in the early 70's on the way people decided to do music and the emcees as well.  His jazzy blues soulful sound was not only innovative and refreshing, but also informative and in your face.  The way he put poetry to music and his style of delivery, which later became to be known as rapping was his way of informing the masses of what was going on in the world and and what to do about.  He was a huge activist for social justice and the empowerment of black people .  A true musical genius and influence on sooo much in the world.
