April 23rd is Granville T. Woods Day!!!
"Granville T. Woods was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1856 to free African-Americans. He held various engineering and industrial jobs before establishing a company to develop electrical apparatus. Known as 'Black Edison', he registered nearly 60 patents in his lifetime, including a telephone transmitter, a trolley wheel and the multiplex telegraph (over which he defeated a lawsuit by Thomas Edison)." I don't agree with using that nickname for Granville because he was actually the one to win the suit, so really he should be the most well-known, not Edison! Thank you Mr. Woods for all of your contributions and inspiration! Please click the link below and learn more about Granville T. Woods. :-)http://www.biography.com/people/granville-t-woods-9536481
